Lunettes AR : un véritable défi technique selon Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg vient de déclarer que la fabrication de lunettes AR approuvées par le grand public est un véritable défi technique. Elle fait même partie des plus difficiles de toute la décennie. Le PDG de Facebook l’a annoncé très récemment lors d’une conférence téléphonique.

Facebook a apparemment atteint le succès dans l’univers de la réalité virtuelle, notamment grâce à son casque Oculus Quest 2. Malgré cela, son PDG n’a pas manqué de déclarer que la firme a encore un long chemin à parcourir dans le développement de ses plateformes VR et AR. Pour le cas du marché de la réalité augmentée en particulier, il faudra encore relever un défi difficile pour le percer.


Lunettes AR : un supercalculateur à installer pour ouvrir le potentiel du marché de l’AR

D’après Mark Zuckerberg, le défi en question se résume à l’installation d’un superordinateur sur une paire de lunettes. Selon lui, le plein potentiel du marché de l’AR ne s’ouvrira que lorsqu’on arrivera à le faire.

Il n’a d’ailleurs pas manqué d’ajouter que ce fameux défi est très excitant à travailler. Dans tous les cas, il faut savoir que la réalité virtuelle et la réalité augmentée constituent un domaine d’investissement clé pour Facebook.

Depuis plusieurs années, la firme n’a pas hésité à y investir beaucoup pour qu’elles deviennent « la prochaine plateforme informatique » selon les dires de son PDG. Dernièrement, l’entreprise a, entre autres, partagé davantage d’informations sur ses investissements dans certains domaines, comme les interfaces neuronales afin d’interagir avec l’AR.

Facebook prête à relever tout défi

La VR et l’AR vont permettre de créer un sentiment de présence plus profond au point qu’aucune autre plateforme ne peut le faire. Zuckerberg l’a déclaré lors de la conférence téléphonique. Il a d’ailleurs ajouté qu’elles vont jouer un rôle essentiel dans la manière dont on va interagir avec les ordinateurs dans le futur.

Pour ces raisons, Facebook va continuer à investir massivement afin de créer de meilleures expériences VR et AR. Le succès qu’a rencontré la firme ces derniers temps, surtout avec le Quest 2, lui a en outre donné plus confiance.

Cela la pousse ainsi à augmenter ses investissements dans la réalité virtuelle et augmentée de manière considérable. En somme, elle est prête à relever tous les défis.

One of the main aspects we love about audiovisual culture is its diversity of concepts and aesthetics, spread across a variety tools and techniques.

What struck us immediately about the audiovisual artist Rafael are his powerful messages conveyed through conceptually dense live cinema performances.

Rafael manages to deliver delicately intense artworks where the audiovisual narrative and a strong political message are constantly shaped and kept in balance throughout the performance.

Rafael - Audiovisual Artist

Rafael has been living in Asia for 10 years where he merged his own European artistic and sociocultural background with the Asian aesthetics and political issues, especially within South Korea.

His phography academic background heightened his sensibility towards the image, with special reference to the body within the space.

Suggesting the movements and space exploration within his photos pushed him to experiment with videos and eventually with VJing tools such as Resolume, in order to enhance the interaction with his artworks. Transforming the still images into audio and video performance.

This is an extract of a live performance named “BOM” which is part of an ongoing day-by-day project made in Korea: KYOULBOMYOELEUMGAEUL.

The performance took place at the SEMA: Seoul Museum of Art. KYOUL means Winter in Korean, BOM is Spring, YOELEUM is Summer and GAEUL is Autumn.

The four season piece is a video reportage of Rafael experience in South Korea, presented in chronological order throughout different audiovisual mediums such as Live Cinema performance, Installation and screening.
