IndieCade Europe en approche à Paris : plongez au coeur du jeu indépendant

IndieCade Europe est de retour, les 18 et 19 octobre à Paris (BnF François Mitterrand).

Au menu de cette célébration de la communauté du jeu indépendant :
– une mise en avant des meilleurs jeux indépendants de l’année, présentés par leurs développeurs ;
– des conférences (en anglais) sur des thématiques variées : retours d’expérience, industrie, techniques, inspirations…
– Show & Tell, un espace de démonstration qui permet de tester des jeux en cours de production, à la sortie imminente ou encore des projets faisant l’objet d’un financement participatif.
– une remise de prix, précédée le samedi d’un vote faisant intervenir public, développeurs, journalistes ;
Indie Exchange, le jeudi au Pavillon (dans le 2ème arrondissement) : un format destiné aux créateurs et développeurs, avec des conférences, tests, du networking.

Outre le site officiel, la billetterie est ouverte. Etudiants et personnes sans emploi ont droit à un rabais.

Un (autre) lecteur de CDV, le Pioneer PD-707V

Je me suis rendu compte que je n’avaios jamais présenté mon lecteur de CD Video NTSC, le Pioneer PD-707V.

Je vous remets le texte que j’avais écrit pour présenter les CD Video, à ne pas confondre avec les Video CD, quand j’avais testé mon CDV 185, l’équivalent de cet appareil en PAL.

Dans les disques de 12 cm, il existe deux variantes. La première porte le nom de “CDV” (CD Video) et il s’agit de disques de 12 cm qui contiennent de la vidéo en format LaserDisc (analogique) et de l’audio numérique (CD). On a donc une ou plusieurs pistes audio classiques (lisibles dans n’importe quel lecteur de CD) suivie de vidéo analogique (quelques minutes). Le second, le “VSD” (Video Single Disk) contient uniquement de la vidéo, et les disques ne peuvent être lu que sur un lecteur de LaserDisc (ou de CDV). Les disques de ce type étaient souvent vendus comme un bonus, par exemple le clip d’un titre sur un CD Audio ou la bande annonce en VSD (cas de Terminator 2). Dixit la base LDDB, qui recense les LaserDisc, il y a 204 CDV PAL, pas de VSD PAL, 228 CDV NTSC et 142 VSD NTSC (soit 574 titres).

L’écran affiche pas mal de choses

Bon, le PD-707V est un lecteur de CD assez ancien (1988) qui lit aussi les disques CD Video en NTSC (Japon et Etats-Unis). Il possède un petit écran qui affiche pas mal d’informations, un tiroir pour les disques, et des sorties assez classiques. Du composite pour la vidéo, deux prises RCA pour l’audio, ainsi qu’une entrée et une sortie VHF pour diffuser la vidéo sur un téléviseur sans entrée composite. L’appareil fonctionne uniquement en 100 V, mais en 50 ou 60 Hz (Japon oblige), donc un simple convertisseur suffit.

L’arrière : composite, VHF, RCA pour l’audio (pas de numérique), alimentation en 110 V.

J’ai d’abord testé en composite, ou l’image est correcte, sans plus. C’est un vieux lecteur de LaserDisc et les modèles des années 90 sont quand même bien meilleur, même en composite. Ensuite, la sortie VHF. J’ai testé avec deux tuners Elgato (EyeTV Hybride version US et EyeTV 250 Plus, donc NTSC). Ils ont captés directement le signal, qui est propre et puissant (pas comme avec le modèle Philips en PAL) mais… sans son. Je suppose que la modulation de l’audio n’est pas la même au Japon et aux USA et que le tuner ne se cale pas au bon endroit. Ou mon lecteur a peut-être un problème, je ne sais. mais en pratique, je n’ai donc pas de son. La qualité est plutôt bonne dans l’absolu, la différence entre la version composite et la version modulé est ténue, contrairement au lecteur PAL. Je vous mets des images de Saint Seiya – on ne se refait pas -, un de mes deux CD Video NTSC.

VHF (très proche)

Après, la question de l’intérêt de ce genre d’appareil se pose. Comme lecteur de CD Audio, c’est assez correct, mais la partie CD Video devait servir assez rarement je pense. Les CD Video ne courraient pas les rues, et une partie des CD Video/VSD était vendue avec un LaserDisc. Et comme les lecteurs de LaserDisc lisent les CD Video dans l’énorme majorité des cas, un appareil dédié ne s’imposait pas vraiment. A part pour ceux qui voulaient vraiment lire les vidéos bonus de certains CD Audio sans acheter un lecteur de LaserDisc, je ne vois pas vraiment la cible.
