Une nouvelle résidence d’écriture pour l’animation 3D ouvre ses portes

Une résidence d’écriture centrée sur les courts-métrages en animation 3D ouvre ses portes à Arles. L’objectif : permettre à une réalisatrice ou un réalisateur, durant 6 semaines, de développer un projet centré sur la notion de développement durable. La résidence permettra notamment de recevoir un soutien de personnes de l’industrie, et comporte un séjour à Annecy durant le festival pour démarcher des partenaires financiers.

La SAR (Sustainability Animation Residency), c’est son nom, nous dévoile son appel à candidatures pour sa première édition, que vous pourrez découvrir ci-dessous. Attention, la date limite des candidatures est fixée au 10 janvier.

Pendant 6 semaines, une réalisatrice ou un réalisateur pourra développer un projet de court métrage sur la thématique du développement durable en technique d’image de synthèse, plus communément appelée 3D.

La résidence est ouverte à toutes personnes diplômées d’une école d’animation, professionnel·le·s avec un showreel.

Durant la résidence, l’artiste sélectionné·e bénéficiera d’un suivi par les professionnel·le·s de la région. La participation à la résidence comprend également un déplacement d’une semaine à Annecy, lors du festival d’animation, pour démarcher les principaux partenaires financiers du secteur. L’artiste recevra un dédommagement pour sa venue, le temps de son séjour, et aura accès à des moyens de transport pendant toute la durée de son séjour.

Du 24 novembre au 10 janvier 2021 : date limite de candidature

Le 22 janvier : annonce de la shortlist des candidat·e·s 

Le 15 février : annonce du gagnant

Du 22 mai au 3 juillet : résidence

Du 14 au 19 juin : festival d’Annecy

Le 2 juillet : soirée de présentation du projet à la résidence

Située à 15 minutes d’Arles, la résidence se trouve dans les Alpilles et elle permet le recueillement nécessaire pour ce temps particulier qu’est l’écriture. Arles s’est construite autour de la spécificité de l’animation en 3D, avec tout d’abord l’implantation de l’école Supinfocom, devenue MOPA par la suite, suivie par la création du studio Tu Nous Za Pas Vus et la Station Animation. Aujourd’hui, c’est 50 employé·e·s du secteur du cinéma d’animation qui occupent la ville et plus de 200 étudiant·e·s en formation.

Pour l’équipe de la résidence, le développement durable, qui pourrait être la traduction de “sustainability” est une priorité. Donner la possibilité aux films traitant ce sujet de trouver le lieu idéal pour se développer est une évidence. Tous types de sujets évoquant l’environnement sont les bienvenus, qu’ils soient des animations documentaires, fictions, expérimentaux, traités avec humour ou sur un ton plus grave, qu’ils évoquent l’impact que cela a sur nos sociétés autour du changement climatique, la gestion de la nourriture, le futur de nos villes, l’énergie, les moyens de déplacement,  la gestion de nos déchets, la mode, etc.

Pour candidater, il suffira d’envoyer en anglais, (cela n’excluant en aucun cas les candidatures de toutes nationalités):

– une lettre de motivation pour participer à la résidence ;

– un synopsis ou un traitement qui doit décrire votre projet en 3D, des esquisses et recherches graphiques ;

– le thème que vous souhaitez développer autour du développement durable, vos intentions, l’objectif et l’ impact éventuel ;

– un mood board, des recherches graphiques et/ou des références de son et musiques 

– un curriculum vitae ;

– un showreel ou vos précédents films

La résidence est initiée par Schliemann Residency Provence avec l’aide de Miyu Distribution et l’association Do Not Disturb qui regroupe les différents studios d’animation d’Arles. Nous sommes actuellement en train de finaliser la composition du ProJury et nous communiquerons prochainement à ce sujet.
