Par : Marco Savo

DEADLINE: 13 September 2020

The Iberian Peninsula has been a hotspot for audiovisual culture and new media arts for many years.

Groundbreaking events such as LEV Festival and Sonar (just to name a couple) have left an indisputable mark in the international AV panorama.

UMBRA Light Festival is a new audiovisual event in Vitoria-Gasteiz celebrating its second edition in February next year.

UMBRA is launching an open call for all audiovisual artists working the field of Light Art.

Umbra Festival - Open call
If you feel like exhibiting your work in the beautiful Basque Country, surrounded by lovely people and delicious food… Well, this might just do the trick!

The festival showcases projection mapping, audiovisual installations and light sculptures in order to develop a dialogue between new media and the urban context of the Basque Country capital city.

The participants have total freedom regarding the proposal theme. However proposals addressing environmental issues and/or United Nations  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be highly valued by the jury.

These will be the main focus of the 2021 edition of UMBRA Light Festival.  The installations will be selected accordingly to the sculptural value and interactive implementation of art and light.

Amsterdam Light Festival (2019-2020) – Call for concepts

Desire – UxU Studio (Amsterdam Light festival 2018)

All the light you see – Alicia Eggert (Amsterdam Light festival 2018)

Absorbed by Light – Gali May Lucas (Amsterdam Light festival 2018)

A.N.N. – Koros Design (Amsterdam Light festival 2018)

Action>Reaction 2.0 – Sjimmie Veenhuis (Amsterdam Light festival 2018)

Maestro – Sharjah Light Festival 2017

For a second year in a row, we were invited by Nomada to participate at the Sharjah Light Festival 2017.
For this occasion we introduced Maestro, a new interactive video mapping, controlled by the user through a futuristic illuminated console.

The installation was set up on a half kilometer long building with 19 video projectors of 20,000 lumens and 8 sky-tracers.
The users were offered to choose between three original Mappings: SAND, MOSAIC and ORGAN.

To complete this creative and technological challenge, Tigrelab teamed up with great talents: Hand Coded was in charge of the generative visuals and sounds, our technological partners ProtoPixel took care of the creative technology and the lighting control, Thomas Aussenac from SoundBox created the Music and Sound Design, and Joan Molins and Roger Amat were in charge of the Motion Design and Animation.

This project has been rewarded during the Sharjah Light Festival 2017 for “Best Installation”.
