Unsound focuses on a broad swath of contemporary music — emerging, experimental, and left-field — whose sweep doesn’t follow typical genre constraints. Influential around the world, it has developed a reputation for identifying innovative scenes and radical sounds.
It’s a platform for an exchange of artistic ideas for musicians, visual artists, curators, journalists, record label owners and booking agents from every continent.
The theme for Unsound 2020 is Intermission. Meaning a break in a performance or production, here it also refers to the rupture caused by COVID-19, a period starkly separating before from after. The word therefore embodies multiple, and somehow contradictory, forces.
The audiovisual event takes place every year at a number of venues across Kraków, regular events also take place in New York, Adelaide, Toronto, and London. Between 2016 and 2018, Unsound also produced eleven festivals in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus, part of a long history of working with curators and artists in the post-Soviet region.
As well as spotlighting emerging artists, Unsound also commissions new shows and encourages trans-border collaborations, adapts and re-imagines abandoned spaces for concerts and club nights, manages cutting-edge artists, and is known for its sound-inspired Ephemera perfume project.

The FullDome Festival is the oldest and only fulldome festival with an unbroken continuity. With about 800 contributions from 30 nations and more than 500 visitors per year, the audiovisual event is most probably the biggest international festival of its kind.
Visitors do not only see and evaluate a great variety of international fulldome films, they meet professional, student and independent producers and take part in paper sessions, workshops, diverse presentations and expert talks. Festival curators, an international jury and the festival directors evaluate the submitted works and select the most interesting and innovative productions for the festival from these submissions and determine the works for one of the festival’s awards.
A core mission of the FullDome Festival has always been to encourage students to stretch the envelope of what’s possible in the dome. It is amazing to see completely new approaches to the medium at each festival. Many are really creative, some even can compete with professional works. For most students, the FullDome Festival not only offers an introduction to the medium, it is often the only way to present, and is one of the few public venues.

L.E.V. (Laboratorio de Electrónica Visual) is a platform specialized in the production and promotion of electronic sound creations, and its relationship with visual arts. It was a European pioneer in this field, and since more than 13 years ago, it tries to converge the natural synergy between image and sound, and the new artistic trends, making special emphasis on live actions.
LEV develops the L.E.V. Festival (in Gijón) and specific, de-localized shows called LEVents. Through both proceedings, the platform reaches its goal: to provide an eclectic, panoramic vision of the current state of creation and all its connections, in an ever-evolving environment.
That is why LEV focuses its work both on international artists that are leaders in audiovisual creativity and local artists, both pioneers and new talents.
L.E.V. is a co-production between the Principado de Asturias Government, the Gijón City Council and LABoral Art and Industrial Creation Centre and it was designed and conceived by the Asturian collective Datatrón. The festival honors by its acronym to Lev Thermen (Russian scientist father of the present-day synthesizers).

We present the new media artist, Mónica Rikić, whose work focuses on code, electronics and non-digital objects to create interactive projects often framed as experimental games.
Her interest lies in the social impact of technology, human-machine-human coexistence and the reappropriation of technological systems to rethink them through art. From educational approaches to sociological experimentation, her projects propose new ways of interacting with the digital environment that surrounds us.
She’s participated in festivals such as Arts Electronica, Sónar and FILE, among others. She’s been awarded at Japan Media Arts Festival, AMAZE Berlin, Margaret Guthman Musical Instrument Competition (Atlanta) and with a BBVA Foundation Leonardo grant to work on a research project about robots and social interactions.
She has also done artistic residencies at TAGin Montreal, QUT- The Cube in Australia, Platohedro in Medellin and Medialab Prado in Madrid.
Currently she’s part of two Creative Europe projects: Contested Desires and ARTificial IntelligenceLab.

The international GENIUS LOCI WEIMAR Festival for audiovisual projections was launched in 2012 as part of the ‘Weimar Summer’ initiative.
Optimally located in this city of poets, musicians and thinkers, as well as the birthplace of the Bauhaus movement, the festival has become an important cultural event for Thuringia, and is now in its ninth edition.
Through the technique of videomapping, Genius Loci Weimar redefines historical buildings and renders history and architecture as tangible for visitors. Every year, three new buildings and structures in and around the city of Weimar are chosen to become a part of the competition and festival.
The winning concept submissions, which must be in a medial narrative form, expressed at the highest technical level through the art of projection mapping, are developed and produced for one of the selected competition facades. Alongside the classic projections, an additional facade represents an interface with the media architecture in the form of a permanent installation.
2020 is set to be a significant year for Germany, with jubilees and anniversaries that could hardly be more contrasting. The “Year of Music 2020” is celebrating Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Liszt and numerous other composers whose great works could not have been created without the acclaim and support that they enjoyed in Germany.
For this year’s edition of the festival, GLW is expressly encouraging makers of short films, motion graphic artists and video and film artists of all backgrounds and genres to apply for the selected locations through the medium of their disparate visual aesthetics, animation techniques and narrative concepts.

With the festival theme of Instability the festival explores new ways of adapting to an age of planetary and societal changes. What opportunities are open to artistic making and thinking to contribute to this transformation?
Our living environment is often presented to us as stable and unquestionable. Landscapes, borders and technological infrastructures are considered static entities. Yet current crises now force us to transform the way we relate to our ecological surroundings. Extreme weather, droughts, wildfires and viruses are forces of nature that tear apart our modern way of living with far-reaching consequences.
The festival aims to seek artistic narratives, skills and sensibilities to prepare us for an alternative life in a period of uncertainty and radical instability.
Yannick Jacquet has spent ten years developing an visual arts project exploring how to reverse the deterioration inherent in our exchanges with the world.
His process of visual creation draws on structural elements as disparate as the architecture of the Centre Pompidou-Metz and a Ravel string quartet. While the precise stratagem may vary, from the spectacular to the intimate, each undertaking is always rooted in the concept of resilience.
This is art haunted by a discourse on the end of time. Jacquet makes no mystery of it. He invokes parallels with the Belgian artist Berlinde de Bruyckere’s work on mutations in living matter, the Japanese Ryoichi Kurokawa‘s stellar visions, and his fellow Swiss artist Jean Tinguely’s sardonic laugh and his 1960s machines designed to self-destruct.
Born in Geneva in 1980, Yannick Jacquet lives and works in Brussels. His work was presented at Contemporary art events, museums & galleries, in Paris, Moscow, Tokyo, Brussels, Montreal and Taiwan. He has received awards at the Milan Design Week and the collector’s prize at Brussels Slick Art Fair.
His regular collaborations with different artists lead him to the Mécaniques Discursives work-in-progress, developed with the printmaker Fred Penelle, a project that is frequently exhibited in Europe and Asia. He is one of the founders of the Antivj visual label.
Pfadfinderei [fɑ:d’fɪndɜ:raɪ] is a Berlin-based design and motion graphics studio specializing in creative services for stage entertainment, large-format media installations, tradeshows and events.
Going beyond screen work, they apply innovative ideas to fusing light, video and spatial design. Pfadfinderei also sport a hot roster of patented fonts and design publications.
Founded in 1998 in Berlin, Pfadfinderei started as a design studio focused on print, fonts and logos designs. The name translates as ‘pathfinders’ or ‘boy scouts’ in German and refers to the studio’s initial work with vector graphics. To this day, vectors and a reductionist approach to creativity are their hallmark and signature style.
Pfadfinderei aim to produce timeless original design ideas and apply their creative hearts and minds to any and all of their work. Always.

The artist residence offered by Eufònic and Lo Pati Art Centre will take place at Delta de l’Ebre between July and August.
The call aims at experimental music and video, visual and sound arts projects related to the landscapes and soundscape of the natural area of Ebre river Delta, fostering dialogue and interaction between natural space and creativity.
This year the open call has a special focus in fragility: after the storm Gloria devastated much of the Iberian peninsula last January, the Ebre river Delta was one of the most affected areas. Highlighting the fragility of this natural area and the need for urgent actions.
This 2020 edition wants to emphasize these parameters from a creative point of view: a fragile system, constantly subjected to changes, erosion and subsidence, added to an irreversible phenomenon such as the sea level rise.

Bogotrax 2020 is a matrix. It is the multiple matrix of a mycelium. A constantly expanding network. Its flowers emerge whenever an encounter (between hyphae) happens.
That is the experiment: to interweave a network of partnerships where organizers and public, actors and spectators jointly participate in the production of social space.
Bogotrax Festival has been taking place in Bogotá, Colombia, for 10 years. From 2003 onward, during the month of February. Ten days of parties and workshops; talks, conferences, performances, activities in different locations, street parades, activities in different local prisons, exhibitions, graffiti, “raves”.
All this for free. Collectives and artists from different countries supported the festival with their participation.
The festival was never meant to promote brands nor it was funded by any institutions. The festival rebellious self-managing spirit led it to program the end of its first life cycle. Bogotrax restarted itself with a relevant topic: “Only in case of emergency.”

In a nutshell, the 2020 programs revolves around things that collapse. A subject of undoubted importance in the current times which affects us in the private and political life. The spark for this edition came, among other things, from the APA office, which approached us almost a year ago to talk about collapse. A joyful bonfire was born from this desire.
This is an edition generated by an unstoppable youth that also leaves space to a wise and proud guard. It’s young, casual, punk and contemporary. Festival curator, Emile Beauchemin aims to program a diversity of humans, approaches, subjects and ways to approach this world that we are constantly trying to understand and reconstruct.
Mois Multi is a project created by Recto Verso whose mission is to support and promote the research, creation and dissemination of multidisciplinary and electronic arts.

CTM’s 21st edition launches with an announcement of new performances, special projects, and commissioned works.
Combining unique productions, concerts, and club nights with a dense daytime programme of talks, discussions, installations, and an exhibition, CTM 2020 proposes multiple entry points into thinking about this year’s Liminal theme.
Liminal phenomena and states are transitional phases in which a familiar order sees its values and symbols destabilised; norms are suspended or turned on their heads. We find ourselves in ambiguous spaces, somewhere between a past that is no longer valid and an ever-becoming future.
TM 2020 will again play out across some of Berlin’s most standout cultural and nightlife venues. For the first time, the festival hosts special projects at Radialsystem V and an immersive listening series at Silent Green’s Betonhalle, while continuing its close relationship with HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Berghain, Kunstquartier Bethanien, Festsaal Kreuzberg, and SchwuZ. A limited number of Early-bird Festival Passes are available now.

The Circle of Light Moscow International Festival is an annual event where lighting designers and audiovisual artists from various countries reinvent the architecture of Moscow.
For a few days Moscow will turn into a universe of light while fascinating building projections will animate the streets and fantastic multimedia shows using light, flame, lasers and fireworks will shake the viewers to the core. As always admission to all festival venues is free.
