Une nouvelle librairie de motion capture pour vos projets

Centroid, studio de motion et performance capture et production virtuelle, annonce le lancement d’une librairie en ligne de données de motion capture. Situé dans les célèbres studios de cinéma de Pinewood, Centroid a en pratique mis en place un site dédié qui compte déjà près de 400 éléments.

Au menu, pour le moment : humains en déplacement, actions pour vos foules (personnages assis ou debout qui observent, parlent, mangent, bougent légèrement, lisent, boivent, téléphonent…), cheval, mais aussi des collections thématiques telles que “zombies” et “pirates” (avec des personnages qui escaladent, chargent des canons, tirent, se battent au sabre, etc).

La collection a pour elle deux avantages principaux : d’une part, l’utilisation du service Sketchfab pour l’affichage 3D temps réel de chaque élément, ce qui permet contrairement à une vidéo d’observer le mouvement sous tous les angles, zoomer, faire pause afin d’être certain que ce que l’on achète convient.
D’autre part, les tarifs relativement abordables : les scènes avec humains sont toutes disponibles pour une quinzaine d’euros. Les scènes avec cheval sont plus chère, le record étant atteint avec l’extrait “lie down” (1500€ environ). On imagine évidemment que la raison est la nécessité de recourir à un cheval spécialement dressé.

Enfin, sur le plan technique, les données sont fournies au format FBX avec mouvement en 120fps appliqué à un squelette (les personnages des visualisations sont présents de façon purement esthétique et ne sont pas inclus).

Culottées : la série de Silex Animation et son making-of à découvrir en intégralité

Après un Work In Progress remarqué à Annecy l’an passé (nous vous avions proposé un compte-rendu de cette conférence), Silex Animation a enfin dévoilé sur France 5 sa série Culottées, adaptée des bandes dessinées de Pénélope Bagieu.
Le concept : 30 épisodes présentant chacun une femme historique. Actrices, impératrices, activistes, volcanologues : les activités, continents et époques sont volontairement très divers.

Une page dédiée sur le site de France 5 vous permettra de découvrir l’intégralité des épisodes si vous ne les avez pas vus lors de leur diffusion TV ; on y trouvera aussi trois bonus dont un making-of de la série en compagnie, notamment, des réalisatrices Mai Nguyen Phuong et Charlotte Cambon de Lavalette.

La série est produite par Silex Films au sein de son studio Silex Animation, entité créée en 2014 à Angoulême et spécialisé en animation 2D.

Canard PC Hardware 44 est en kiosque

Je profite du World Backup Day (oui, c’est aujourd’hui) pour vous parler du numéro 44 de Canard PC Hardware. La raison ? Il parle de sauvegardes.

Comme tous les trimestres, Canard PC Hardware est en kiosque. Si vous êtes abonné, vous l’avez peut-être déjà reçu, mais dans le cas contraire, il est disponible chez votre revendeur préféré. Vos marchands de journaux ont le droit d’être ouverts et quand ils le peuvent matériellement, ils le sont, donc vous y trouverez votre magazine. Mais restez prudents : respectez les consignes sanitaires, évitez de multiplier les sorties, groupez vos courses à faire.

Le magazine, donc. Il propose deux gros dossiers thématiques. Le premier porte sur la sauvegarde. Comment faire ? Sur quoi ? A quelle fréquence ? Bon, si vous avez un Mac… vous utilisez Time Machine, mais tout le monde n’utilise pas macOS ou iOS. Le second dossier porte sur l’accessibilité pour les personnes avec un handicap physique. Et plus spécifiquement dans les jeux vidéo : comment ils jouent, avec quoi, etc. J’en ai profité pour tester et expliquer comment fonctionne la manette de Microsoft et les accessoires de Logitech.

Dans la suite, Oni et moi avons testé des cartes graphiques, des processeurs (32 coeurs, mieux que le Mac Pro !), une brosse à dents connectée, du Wi-Fi 6, etc. On parle aussi du bug de l’an 2000 et de celui de l’an 2020, de Windows que vous ne connaissez pas, etc.

Si vous n’êtes pas abonné (Comment ? Pourquoi ?), il est donc en kiosque. Et normalement bientôt en ligne exceptionnellement.
