Microwave Festival began in 1996 as an annual video art festival of the local video art institution Videotage. As technology progressed and became more accessible, video art slowly evolved to involve other media; thus Microwave began to embrace the wider range of new media art. As the first and only art festival in Hong Kong dedicated to new media art, Microwave has steadily grown into a well-established festival that brings cutting-edge works to provoke thought in the technological hub every year.

In its 10th anniversary, Microwave Festival celebrated by becoming an independent organization, completed with a re-branding by design partner Milkxhake and a strengthened curatorial and working team. Microwave then continues the hard work to inspire Hong Kong and the rest of the world with pioneering media artworks selected to suit themes relevant to the society today, while also avidly supporting the exchange and dialogue between artists, professionals, and the general public.

They envision that through the Microwave network, Hong Kong artists will be introduced to international institutions and curators, working as a platform and gateway for them to develop their art and skills. Apart from the grand annual festival, Microwave also endeavors to nurture a rising local new media arts community, organizing various programmes such as educational workshops, seminars, forums, and exhibitions.

FOTONICA 3rd edition launches with new audiovisual projects of italian-based and international artists.

FOTONICA from photon, historically as light, from Greek φωτός (photòs), is a FREE festival that investigates art forms related to the light element, in particular, digital light. PHOTONICA wants to be a new project in a field where Rome has always been a reference, but today it suffers from the lack of an international event: the Audio Visual Arts.

Wants to be a project of the newborn roman network of organizations active in contemporary video audio to build a program that represents the various forms of expression: Audio Video Performances, Video Mappings, Light Installations, DJ-VJ Sets, NetArt, Workshops, and lectures.

The initiative is part of the program of Contemporaneamente Roma 2019 promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Crescita Culturale and in collaboration with Siae. This 2019 will again play in the capital, specifically at Cinema Aquila in Pigneto area and at Fusolab 2.0 in Centocelle/Alessandrino in Rome.

FOTONICA is produced by Flyer communication, which in 2004 created the LPM Live Performers Meeting, the largest event in the industry. He came to his 18th edition, of which 11 in Rome and the others, thanks to the support of the European Community, Xalapa, Minsk, Mexico City, Cape Town, Eindhoven and Amsterdam. Since 2004, LPM has hosted more than 4600 artists, 2625 performances, workshops and showcases, with 72 participating countries and more than 1,500,000 visitors.

El Amsterdam Light Festival es un festival que se celebra anualmente en invierno en los Países Bajos y que se presenta como un festival de arte que busca la máxima calidad con la luz como protagonista. Los canales, lugares históricos, fuentes, se vestirán de luz con las obras seleccionadas para ofrecer una experiencia única a los visitantes.

Desire – UxU Studio (Amsterdam Light festival 2018)

La 8ª edición del festival tendrá lugar del 28 de noviembre de 2019 al 19 de enero de 2020 en el centro de Ámsterdam. Un jurado internacional, junto al equipo curador del festival, revisará los conceptos y seleccionará cerca de 30 artistas para presentar sus obras.

Fecha límite para presentar propuestas: lunes 21de enero 2019.

El festival invita a creativos de todo el mundo, desde artistas a diseñadores, ingenieros, arquitectos, profesionales o estudiantes, a presentar un concepto para una obra de luz.

Para su 8ª edición, el festival está buscando interpretaciones artísticas y originales del tema “interrumpir”, entendido como perturbar o desordenar. Una interrupción generalmente se considera un inconveniente, pero también puede ser positiva y, a veces, esencial para desencadenar la necesidad de que se produzcan cambios. Desafían a los artistas a crear esculturas o instalaciones de luz que exploren este tema.

La Galería B12 acogió en Ibiza, durante un fin de semana, una propuesta liderada por el colectivo Visuals For The Masses, del que ya te hemos hablado, y esperamos hayas escuchado, ya que se trata de un potente podcast colaborativo con profesionales del sector visual de todo el mundo. De la mano de este colectivo, tuvieron lugar las primeras jornadas sobre artes visuales y visualistas con la idea de que se celebren de forma mensual.

Para la inauguración, el viernes 11 de enero, tuvo lugar una masterclass de la mano de Gnomalab (Juanjo Fernández). La jornada de networking continuó con una comida junto al colectivo Visuals For The Masses y una mesa redonda sobre Show Running en Clubs. Participaron grandes profesionales como Pedro Comesaña (3DLight), Ivi (Improbable Films), Gus (vídeos de Amnesia), Masha (Icemash), Karlos Molina (Dj), Danny Lloyd (DJ), Elimaginario (diseñador visual de Music On y uno de los organizadores de la cita) y otros miembros de Visuals For The Masses.

El sábado 12 tuvo lugar una sesión muy especial en B12 Ibiza con una nueva edición de la fiesta So en la que los asistentes pudieron disfrutar de una instalación de láser y visuales creada por Elimaginario y A.P patrocinada por Pirolaser FX. Las visuales corrieron a cargo de Gnomalab y Elimaginario.

The Circle of Light Moscow International Festival is an annual event where lighting designers and audiovisual artists from various countries reinvent the architecture of Moscow.

For a few days Moscow will turn into a universe of light while fascinating building projections will animate the streets and fantastic multimedia shows using light, flame, lasers and fireworks will shake the viewers to the core. As always admission to all festival venues is free.

THE ART VISION VIDEO MAPPING CONTEST RUNS UNDER THE AEGIS OF THE «CIRCLE OF LIGHT» FESTIVAL.

This year contestants from 35 countries joined the competition.

  • 5 entry works have been selected for the Classic Nomination
  • 16 entries for the Modern Nomination
  • 15 entries for the VJing Nomination. 

All entries will be projected onto iconic buildings in Moscow.

The organizer of the «Circle of Light» festival is the Department of Sport of Moscow. The coordinator of the festival is LBL Communication Group.

Entre leur rigueur (austérité, diront certains) et leurs graphismes sans cesse améliorés, les simulateurs de vol occupent une place à part dans le monde du jeu vidéo. Leur ancienneté permet aussi de les utiliser comme mètre-étalon des progrès techniques en matière de photoréalisme.

Justement, Microsoft a dévoilé lors de l’E3 des images de son futur Microsoft Flight Simulator, prévu pour 2020 sur PC et Xbox. Avec des visuels à couper le souffle :

Nos confrères de Canard PC ont pu vérifier si, en pratique, la promesse était tenue. Au vu de leur article (actuellement en accès libre) et de la vidéo d’aperçu ci-dessous, c’est le choc : un véritable « bond technologique gigantesque », comme le souligne le magazine, par rapport aux concurrents. Lumière, géométrie, détails, les résultats forcent le respect.

En pratique, le jeu s’appuie notamment sur les données de Bing et ses centaines de villes scannées en 3D par photogrammétrie aérienne. L’ensemble de la planète devrait en fait pouvoir être survolé. La simulation se veut toujours plus proche du réel, et les nuages volumétriques sont somptueux.

Si le jeu est gourmand, il n’est pas hors d’atteinte et tourne à 40fps environ sur une machine haut de gamme récente, en 4k. Un bon point, donc. En revanche, Canard PC nous précise que la réalité virtuelle ne sera a priori pas disponible au lancement : dommage, ce genre de jeu s’y prête à merveille. La VR est toutefois « en chantier » et devrait donc être proposée à terme.

Notez enfin que ce Microsoft Flight Simulator est développé en France, chez les bordelais d’Asobo Studio.

Un connecteur Lightning caché dans l’Apple TV 4K

Apple a tendance à cacher des connecteurs pour un usage de maintenance dans ses appareils. Et récemment, quelqu’un a découvert un connecteur Lightning caché dans l’Apple TV 4K (le modèle de 2017).

Les Apple TV 2 et 3 possédaient un connecteur microUSB pour la mise à jour, ainsi qu’un connecteur dock 30 broches caché. L’Apple TV « 4 » possède une prise USB-C pour les mises à jour. Mais l’Apple TV 4K (« 5 ») n’en possède pas. Vraiment ? Comme le montre @littlesteve, en fait il y a une prise cachée dans la prise Ethernet.

On trouve les traces sur la carte mère sur le démontage d’iFixit, mais personne n’avait remarqué les broches à l’époque. Une personne sur Twitter a essayé de connecter un connecteur femelle issu d’un iPhone mais sans succès au moment où j’écris ces lignes.

Reste à voir si le connecteur est bien câblé (et comment) et le rêve de certains pourrait être exaucé : une sortie analogique sur l’Apple TV, avec un adaptateur Lightning vers jack…
