Teradek has announced the new Vidiu streaming encoder at CES in Las Vegas last week. The device is essentially the same as the Livestream Producer except that the unit can connect to any CDN. We have been using the red Livestream Producer for quite a while and it has been a fantastic performer every time we use it. So it stands to reason that the Vidiu will perform just as well.
The new Vidiu has the same functionality except that it can be used with the New Livestream platform as well as all other CDN's.
There is also a new iPhone App that can view the live video stream.
The new Teradek Vidiu enables consumers to live video stream at the highest quality to all CDN's and servers. Watch this video preview to see the review of the device. Jump to 2:20 to view info on the new Teradek Vidiu:
The Scots College in the Sydney suburb of Bellevue Hill is one of Australia's oldest and finest boys school. The school have recently embraced the idea of enabling parents the ability to watch their sons perform in sporting, academic and community activities by using live video streaming technology. We recently installed the first streaming kit at the school, set up their streaming channels and delivered the training needed to produce professional live video streams.

We finished our livestream installation for MCN who have successfully completed their first stream. Viewers in Melbourne and Sydney enjoyed a great quality experience and were enthusiastic with the technology
Excitement is building with the impending release of the new Canon Firmware which will give pristine HDMI out for the first time. Now playing catch up on the stellar Nikon D800, Canon have been forced to 'clean up' the dirty HDMI output that has held back this fantastic camera.
The excitement really hinges on the pairing of the camera with the Atamos range of products and really unlocks the true potential of the Canon EOS 5D Mark III

My Sport Live website was developed in-house at Livestream Australia as well as the supply, installation and commissioning of the Teredek Bond, Teradek Link, Blackmagic TVS and an assortment of 3g and 4G dongles.
Even though almost all network connections went down with an overload of traffic, the Teradek Link with 3 Optus and 3 Telstra dongles continued to stream without interuption.

Last week had us in beautiful Hobart capturing video and live steaming seminars. The live video streaming production used Nikon dSLR cameras, the Blackmagic ATEM TVS to handle the camera switching and the Teradek Vidiu HDMI encoder. We used Medium setting on the encoder and a Telstra 4G WiFi hotspot.

Livestream’s mission is to connect people and live events. Livestream offers event owners a complete set of hardware
and software tools to share their events with a growing community online. More than 30 million viewers each month watch thousands of live events from customers including The New York Times, Facebook, ESPN, SpaceX and Warner Bros. Records. Founded in 2007, Livestream is headquartered in New York with offices in Los Angeles, London, Ukraine and India.
Fox Sports says its livestream of Super Bowl XLVIII, between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos, was the most-viewed livestream of a single sporting event in the United States in history. The internet broadcast the third time the Super Bowl has been streamed live by a major network attracted an average audience of 528,000 viewers per minute.
Fox says the number of viewers per minute was an increase of 4 percent over the average audience of 508,000 that watched 2013's game on CBSSports.com, and a 52 percent increase over the 346,000 that caught 2012's competition on NBCSports.com. FOX also earned a Super Bowl record for online audience engagement, with users spending an average of 47.8 minutes watching the stream, compared to 38.1 minutes in 2013, and 37.4 minutes in 2012.
Most Americans chose to watch the game on TV
Fox's use of the"viewers per minute" statistic makes direct comparison with other streaming events difficult, who often use peak concurrent viewers to measure audience. This year's Super Bowl livestream's had a peak concurrent viewership of 1.1 million, recorded in the third quarter of the game. The figure is high in comparison with previous sporting examples such as YouTube's stream of the 2012 Olympics, which reached 500,000 people at once, but lags behind events such as Riot Games' League of Legends Season 3 World Championship, which earned a peak concurrent viewership of 8.5 million.
The figures also show that the vast majority of Americans chose to watch the game through traditional means. The average audience for the Super Bowl's livestream was less than half a percent of the average audience for the TV broadcast. That broadcast pulled in an average of 111.5 million viewers, making it the most-watched US TV broadcast ever a number that spiked further during the halftime show, as 115.3 million people tuned in to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruno Mars perform.

Livestream have released the Beta of the new generation of Production Switching and Streaming software. The biggest news of this software update is that it allows Bonded streaming using multiple ethernet, wifi and USB modem connections.
Bonded streaming is the killer feature that delivers professional streaming capabilities. It won't replace the Teradek Bond for horsepower, but it will give a huge boost in streaming capabilities in fringe locations.
We will be putting the Beta through its paces and will post a review soon.
In the meantime, download your copy right here
This software is installed as a second version and does not affect the original installed copy of Livestream Studio.

Livestream today released its new embeddable player. The player has many important new features including a complete re-design. Now there is no need to swap out the player embed after your event! With the new player, your viewers can watch video posts directly from the embedded player.
With the new “Get Notified” button, visitors can now follow your account on Livestream or add the event to their calendar from within the player embed itself.

The first ever live video stream of a Westfield FFA Cup game was provided by Livestream Australia last week. Using the Teradek Bond 2 and ingest and transcode at our head office, we placed the logos's and scoring at our head office, then pushed the stream through YouTube Live. Although only a single camera event, the video quality was well received in HD, High, Medium and Mobile.
A live audience of 65000 viewers enjoyed the coverage.
On Sunday, Red Bull Cape Fear was streamed to almost 1 million viewers from Cape Solander, Sydney using the Teradek Bond encoder transmitter. The multi-million dollar production with over 14 cameras, the worlds best big wave riders and a remote location was streamed to the Red Bull TV Akamai network with the Teradek Bond and 6 Telstra LTE - 4G data connections.
Red Bull Media House specified a transmission of 720p, 3.5 Mbps video, 192 Kbps audio RMTP from the remote location to Accenture in New Jersey, USA. Accenture transcoded to multiple sizes, rates and formats to ensure pristine distribution to Apple TV, Google ChromeCast, Roku, Desktops, Laptops, iOS, Android and Windows phones.
Coupled with the Sierra Wireless 320U USB modems and a high gain LTE - 4G antennae to transmit the signal almost 4 klm into Botany, La Perouse and beyond, we transmitted a perfect HD signal, uninterrupted for over 5hrs.
If you are a producer and require an enterprise grade bonded cellular streaming transmitter, you can't go past the Teradek Bond for performance and reliability.
If you need to live video stream and can't rely on the venues upload speeds (99.9% of Australian upload speeds are inadequate for quality streaming) we have several options to choose from.
